The two soldiers killed in Afghanistan have arrived home.
The bodies of Lance Corporals Pralli Durrer and Rory Malone were met in Christchurch by members of their families and senior military officials late last night. Chief of Defence, Lieutenant General Rhys Jones, says the Defence Force is grateful for the assistance provided by the US Air Force, which ensured the soldiers returned home as quickly as possible.
Final arrangements are being made for a military commemorative service tomorrow at Burnham Military Camp. The soldiers' bodies will then be returned to their families for private funeral services.
Lance Corporals Durrer and Malone were killed last Saturday when their patrol went to the assistance of ambushed local Afghani forces in Bamiyan Province. Six other team members were injured in that attack.
